The New South Wales Tourism Awards have been announced, sending some of the state’s top tourism ventures to the national competition at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.

The Gold Award for Meeting and Business Tourism was bestowed upon the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley.

“It’s wonderful to be singled out by our peers as an organisation that sets the benchmark for best practice across the state,” said Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley Resort business development director, Caroline Lyttle.

The BridgeClimb was recognised as the Gold Major Tourist Attraction, the Royal Easter show as the Major Festival or Event, and AAT Kings Sydney Sightseeing for the Gold Major Tour and/or Transport Operators.

The ceremony on Thursday night also saw TakeABreak.com.au awarded for Tourism Marketing and the Greater Blue Mountains Drive acknowledged as the Gold New Tourism Development.

The Lane Cove River Tourist Park managed to receive both a Gold Award for Tourist and Caravan Parks, and the Qantas Award for Excellence in Sustainable Tourism.

Presented by Tourism NSW, in conjunction with Tourism Industry Council NSW, the NSW Tourism Awards is the largest and most prestigious event on the State’s annual tourism calendar.

The NSW Gold Award winners are then placed in contention for national excellence at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, to be announced on Friday 27th February, 2009, in Melbourne.
